BIOGRAPHY

Motez’ soundscape pushes the boundaries of your regular club producer, going way back before he was making wholesome, wall-to-wall club cuts and rocking festival stages. His classical piano know-how and clear influences of the 90s allow him to flex his skills and musical taste across all of his releases, chalking up six Hype Machine #1s, an ARIA Platinum single, and dropping official remixes for Disclosure, Sam Smith, Flume, and Ellie Goulding. Motez is also a regular on mix series Diplo & Friends, Beats1 Radio, Triple J Mix Up, and George FM.

Motez’s hunger to give back to his club fans will continue with more dance-floor-driven releases on Sweat It Out, Lane 8’s imprint This Never Happened, Armada and Hot Meal Records in Berlin. The release of his EP ReSet saw the title track become a staple in the top 20 most Shazamed songs and in the top 10 most played songs on Triple J.

Motez debuted his new live show at Womadelaide's 30th anniversary in 2022, where he was joined by string and brass sections, a children's choir, and a host of singers including George Alice. The set was broadcast on Triple J as part of their Live at the Wireless series.

In 2023, Motez kicked off the year by supporting Partiboi69's show in his hometown of Adelaide and promptly followed up with a remix of Flume's Sirens. As the year unfolded, Motez unveiled his most ambitious project to date, Coalesce: an audiovisual EP created in collaboration with multidisciplinary visual artist Dave Court. This project showcased a sonic spectrum spanning from Industrial to Techno, nestled in between Ambient vignettes.

Approaching the year's conclusion, Motez gained significant traction with Coalesce. The EP's lead single Make Way, featuring Kenyan-Australian artist Elsy Wameyo, earned a coveted spot in Triple J's rotation. The accompanying music video, skillfully directed by Dave Court, was named ‘Video of the Week’ by RAGE and earned a spot in their coveted TOP50 Videos of 2023, further solidifying Motez's impactful presence in the music scene as a forward-thinking artist.

Beyond making club hits, Motez has also expanded his artistry into film, art, and curation. He has composed the score for two short films and conceived and created the music for several art exhibitions and audiovisual installations, including PASSAGE at the Adelaide Botanic Garden and BREATHE at the Museum of Discovery. Additionally, in November 2024 he curated the music program for the University of Adelaide’s 150th-anniversary celebrations, featuring 13 artists—including Genesis Owusu, Yard Act, Jamesjamesjames, and In2Stellar—resulting in a sold-out event.
